Frequently Asked Questions

Who is this tour suitable for?

This tour is designed for people who love outstanding food, wine and authentic travel experiences. Whether you're a seasoned wine enthusiast or simply curious about Sherry, you'll leave with a much deeper understanding of one of the world's most fascinating wine regions.

Do I have to like Sherry to enjoy this trip?

Not at all! Many guests arrive convinced they don't like Sherry, only to discover they've simply never tasted it in the right place. We'll explore a wide range of styles, learn how Sherry is made and, most importantly, experience it paired with exceptional food. By the end of the tour, most guests have found at least one style they love.

I've never tasted Sherry before. Will I feel out of my depth?

Absolutely not. This holiday is designed for beginners and enthusiasts alike. Everything is explained in a relaxed, engaging way, and there are no silly questions. My aim is to help you understand Sherry in a way that is enjoyable rather than intimidating.

Why has Jerez been named Spain's Culinary Capital?

Jerez was awarded Spain's Culinary Capital for its outstanding gastronomy, rich culinary traditions and world-famous wines. It's a city where food, Sherry, flamenco and history come together to create one of Spain's most exciting gastronomic destinations.

Will we only be drinking Sherry?

No. Although Sherry is the star of the trip, you'll also enjoy excellent local still wines and discover how the region's wines complement its cuisine.

What makes this tour different from a standard winery tour?

This isn't a series of public winery visits. You'll enjoy private experiences, meet passionate local producers, dine in outstanding restaurants and gain access to people and places that most visitors never encounter. Most importantly, I personally host the entire journey, sharing over twenty years of local knowledge and friendships built throughout Andalucía.

Is there much walking?

There is a moderate amount of walking around Jerez's historic centre and within wineries. Guests should be comfortable walking at a relaxed pace over uneven cobbled streets and standing during guided visits.

How large is the group?

The tour is limited to just 10 guests, creating an intimate atmosphere where everyone gets to know each other and there's plenty of opportunity to ask questions and enjoy conversations around the table.

Where will we stay?

You'll stay at the beautiful Hotel Bodega Tío Pepe, a five-star hotel located within the famous González Byass winery complex, just a short walk from Jerez's historic centre.

Are flights included?

No. Guests arrange their own flights, allowing flexibility to travel from wherever suits them best. Jerez is easily reached via its own airport, or from Seville or Málaga. I will happily advise on the best travel options.

Are airport transfers included?

Transfers are not included, but they're simple to arrange. I'll provide detailed guidance before you travel, and taxis from Jerez Airport are quick and straightforward.

Is food included?

Yes. The tour includes carefully selected lunches and dinners showcasing the very best of Jerez's restaurants, alongside all wines and Sherries served during the organised meals and tastings.

I have dietary requirements. Can these be catered for?

In most cases, yes. Please let me know when booking and I'll work with our restaurants and hosts wherever possible to accommodate your dietary needs.

Can I come on my own?

Absolutely. Many guests travel solo and quickly become part of the group. The small group size creates a warm, friendly atmosphere from the very first evening.

Can I buy Sherry to take home?

Definitely! I'll advise you on what to buy, where to buy it and how best to transport it home.

Will I have free time?

Yes. Although the itinerary is full, there is time to relax, enjoy the hotel, wander through Jerez or simply sit with a glass of wine and watch the city go by.

Why should I book with Annie B rather than organise the trip myself?

You certainly could visit Jerez independently. What you won't easily recreate are the relationships, introductions, behind-the-scenes access and carefully curated sequence of experiences built over many years. This tour isn't simply about visiting wineries—it's about understanding the people, traditions and culture that make Jerez unlike anywhere else in the wine world.
