Cooking Class
Shopping for lunch ingredients will be the task this morning as we stroll through Vejer chatting to various vendors. Then back to the kitchen for a relaxed “hands on cooking class”. Today you will be learning about traditional Andalucian tapas with Annie and her fabulous assistant Pepi. Today the dishes might include Melon & Mint Gazpacho, Carrots & Cumin, Prawns in Garlic, Tuna & Red Pepper Salad, Chorizo & Pork Meatballs, Pepi’s Tortilla, Sticky Orange, Lemon & Almond Cake. You will learn all about Iberian Pork and the associated delicacies.
Ahead of lunch Virginia will lead a masterclass of some of her favourite Spanish wines to pair with lunch.
Following siesta, you will return to Annie’s at 8pm to enjoy an evening of Flamenco music & prepare Paella with Pepi.

Day 3 – Tuesday 4th
Countryside Adventure
After heading to the local butcher to buy our meat, and then to Ute’s (local winemaker) vineyard to enjoy a tasting of her boutique wines, we drive deep into the countryside of La Janda to meet Chente (a Basque chef who loves Andalucia) and eat an extraordinary lunch in his Txoko (cooking club) which forms part of the restored estate workers village which architect Chente and his artist wife Irina have lovingly restored. In 1974, Chente opened the first ever tapas bar in Miami, Las Arenas. He is a great raconteur and you will love his stories.
Tonight you have a free evening ahead of our early start tomorrow.

In Tangiers we will be met by our guide for the day who will escort us around the Kasbah, Medina and on the short ride to see the Atlantic coast and beautiful beaches at Cape Spartal (where the Atlantic meets the Med). A fabulous lunch and shopping before we catch the return ferry at 5.30pm.

Sherry & Horses
Today you say goodbye & check out of Vejer. All aboard! Our Sherry bus leaves at 10am for the Sherry capital, Jerez de la Frontera. A magical tour of Sherry, fine art, horses, history and some great food awaits you. We start with visiting the Royal Andalucian Riding School to witness a show of the extreme beauty of Spanish dressage horses. After which we head to enjoy some fabulous Sherry and priceless Spanish art. A delicious lunch ahead of a well earned siesta. This evening you will enjoy some of the Sherry Tabancos (sherry stores) which are unique to Jerez and soak up the charm of this beautiful city.

Day 6 – Friday 7th
Manzanilla & Seafood
One of the great food and wine matches of the world is ice cold Manzanilla and seafood. Manzanilla can only be produced in the historic town of Sanlucar de Barrameda, also famous for sea travellers such as Magellan and Columbus. We will taste Manzanilla straight out of the cask at the bodega we are visiting and later match it with exquisite local fish and seafood over lunch.
En route back to Jerez we will stop by a vineyard to touch the unique white Albariza soil of this area. Inbetween sipping Sherry cocktails you will have the chance to cut and press your own grapes (no shoes and socks required!)
After your well earned siesta we will enjoy drinks and a fabulous farewell dinner.

60th Birthday week for 10 people with Annie B
Monica, Herts May 2024
Now that the pork fat and the palomino juice have metabolised through our bodies, I just wanted to thank you again for organising and hosting such a fantastic trip for my birthday jamboree. We all had the most amazing time and have so many wonderful memories to dwell on for a long time ahead. There were so many highlights because your meticulous planning and knowledge enabled us to cram so many different activities into the trip. Your home provided the most perfect backdrop for our cooking classes, leisurely lunches enjoying the fruits of our labours plus the moving & unforgettable flamenco show. You shared so much knowledge with us at every stage but more than anything we had real fun, with so much laughter along the way. Your passion for everything that Vejer and its surrounding area shone through and was totally infectious.
Why Vejer de la Frontera
It’s breathtakingly beautiful. Your first glimpse of the town is as a blinding flash of white on a hilltop against the bluest of blue skies. Up close it’s just as easy on the eye, too – a labyrinth of narrow, cobbled streets winding its way between quiet squares, churches and handsome historical buildings, it’s a photographer’s dream.
How to get to Vejer
Whether it’s your first time here or you need help organising a large group, getting to Vejer de la Frontera could hardly be easier.
Hotels & Places to Stay Around Vejer
You’re spoilt for choice! Private terrace? Spectacular views? Use of private pool? Hotel? B&B? Apartment? Vejer is filled with lots of wonderful places to stay.
