Why book your Online Sherry Tasting with me…

I LOVE Sherry! Always have done and always will. It has to be one of the most fascinating wines in the world. It’s not just Sherry wine that captures your senses but also the associated history, the culture, the food and the music. I live on the edge of the Sherry triangle and Sherry is part of my daily life. It’s such a fun wine and it’s always been a pleasure to share my passion ever since I qualified as a Sherry Educator in October 2011.  

How will your Online Sherry Tasting work?

CURRENTLY ONLY AVAILABLE IF YOU SUPPLY YOUR OWN SHERRY

All online Sherry tastings will have a corresponding tasting kit of 6 x 50ml samples available to ship directly to you if you are in the UK.

You will need 4-6 x glasses per person and optional food pairing.

I will guide you through a tasting of the 6 different styles of Sherry with names you are probably familiar with such as Manzanilla, Fino, Amontillado, Oloroso, Cream (yes, even cream is fab!) and Pedro Ximenez, better known as PX.

All of my tastings will be hosted via Zoom at a pre-arranged time. You will have the option of booking a private tasting exclusively for your group or joining others on a fixed date.

I will ship via UPS the Sherry to you as a tasting kit of 6 x 50mls Sherry samples. The kit will arrive a few days ahead of the tasting.

Each session is approximately 1.5 hours.

Annie B’s sherry talk, presentation and “workshop” was an epiphany.  Away with Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh, give me Fino, Amontillado, Oloroso, Cream and Pedro Ximenez (how mellifluous they sound).  I had no idea how varied and delicious sherry can be. Annie, gently and masterfully took us on a journey of discovery about sherry, through the triangle of sherry towns, describing the history and process of production and showed the versatility of sherry as an accompaniment to a variety of foods.  It was all completely satisfying.
I will now definitely read more by the great 19th century Spanish novelist Galdos  having now read his encomium of sherry in his book Cadiz:

Who knew you could drink sherry throughout a meal, pairing different varieties with each course – we do now thanks to Annie B’s fabulous ‘Zoom sherry tasting class’.  We were transported to the sherry triangle in southern Spain from our sofas – certainly a welcome change within our restricted pandemic world right now, but a valuable experience at any time.  From the moment the 6 sherry samples arrived to preparing (or buying in) a few complimenting tapas dishes recommended by Annie, to the informative and fascinating class itself, we loved it all.  As soon as the world opens up and we can get to the province of Cadiz in person, we look forward to signing up for a tour in person and a cookery course – if Annie’s delicious sticky orange, almond and lemon cake is anything to go by I’m sure that will be a culinary joy.
