Tabancos are original Sherry stores where people would buy their Sherry directly from the cask. They were meeting places where people would socialise, discuss business and, of course, drink Sherry.
In recent years they have gained a reputation for serving wonderful tapas and you’ll be introduced to the best of the bunch on this tour.
When you step into a tabanco it really is like stepping back in time. Your Sherry is always served in a tumbler and straight out of the barrel – making it the perfect way to sample all the different styles of Sherry of Jerez.
The delicious tapas of Jerez are more rustic in style and flavour reflecting its inland location; hence some of the finest chorizo, cheese and stews will be on the menu. Eating tapas favoured by the local Jerezanos, the chances are quite high that you will encounter some pop-up flamenco.
This tour can be taken lunchtime or evening and is a perfect blend of local history, culture, wine and food – with, hopefully, some music thrown in!
